THE ART OF FLY TYING

THE ART OF FLY TYING

Join experienced fly tyer Murray Pedder, who has been perfecting the craft for 45 years, for an open-floor demonstration of The Art of Fly Tying at Community Canvas.

From intricate insects to colourful streamers, discover how feathers, fibres, thread and imagination are transformed into tiny works of functional art. Three-hour open demonstration. R200 per person Space limited. Bookings essential. Book your spot now, WhatsApp 083 629 2630 The session is open to everyone, from those curious about trying fly tying for the first time to beginner, intermediate and advanced tyers. Already tying your own flies but struggling with a particular technique?

Bring along the hook and basic components/materials for the fly you are working on and Murray can demonstrate techniques and offer guidance. No need to bring tools or thread.

And there is an even better reason to join us: Murray is donating the entire amount raised back to the Plettenberg Bay Arts Association, helping support initiatives that identify and nurture creative talent across our communities and provide much-needed art materials and opportunities. Come and see just how much artistry can fit onto a fishing hook.

Murray Pedder is an experienced fly tyer with more than 45 years of practice behind the vice. His passion lies in the precision, creativity and craftsmanship of fly tying, from classic patterns to more intricate designs. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with both newcomers and experienced tyers, helping others refine techniques and appreciate fly tying as both a practical skill and an art form.
