An exhibition of contemporary sculpture by Tania Babb and paintings by Ronel Art in Colour
Between Form & Colour

Between Form & Colour

Between Form & Colour brings together the vibrant, expressive work of Ronel Art in Colour and the evocative porcelain sculptures of Tania Babb in a curated exhibition presented by Mulberry Boutique as part of the Plett Arts Festival.

At first glance, the artists work in very different visual languages. Ronel's paintings and decorative works draw the viewer in through bold colour, intricate patterns, rhythm and movement. Her work is joyful and energetic, yet there is often a peaceful, almost meditative quality beneath the intensity of the colour. Tania's porcelain sculptures invite a quieter form of engagement.

Her work moves between the human and animal form, exploring the emotional relationships that shape our lives. Her figures express vulnerability, affection, intimacy and connection through gesture and posture, while her animal sculptures draw on the character and symbolism of African fauna. Each piece is individually formed, giving the work an unmistakably human quality despite its sculptural medium.

The exhibition is ultimately about the different ways artists can communicate feeling. Colour and pattern can create emotion without words, just as a simple gesture or expression in a sculpture can convey an entire relationship. Presented within the distinctive setting of Mulberry Boutique, Between Form & Colour allows visitors to encounter these two very different artistic practices side by side, while also experiencing the relaxed and accessible environment for which Mulberry is known.

The exhibition will appeal to art collectors, design enthusiasts and visitors simply looking to discover original South African art. Selected works will be available for purchase, providing an opportunity for visitors to take a piece of the exhibition home with them. Following Mulberry Boutiques participation in the 2025 Plett Arts Festival, the 2026 exhibition continues its commitment to creating a platform for artists and contributing to Plettenberg Bays growing creative and cultural landscape.

Mulberry Boutique is an independent fashion and lifestyle boutique in Plettenberg Bay with a strong connection to art, design and South African creativity. The boutique provides a carefully curated environment where fashion, interiors, art and local talent come together, and has previously participated in the Plett Arts Festival. For the 2026 festival, Mulberry will present an exhibition featuring two artists with distinctly individual creative voices: Plettenberg Bay based artist Ronel Art in Colour and accomplished South African sculptor Tania Babb. Ronel, co-owner of Mulberry Boutique, creates under the name Ronel Art in Colour.

Her work is instinctive, expressive and deeply connected to colour. Through acrylic paintings, hand-painted ceramics and upcycled pieces, she combines bold colour, intricate patterns and fine detail to create work that is energetic and joyful, while often carrying a sense of calm and visual meditation. Tania Babb is a highly regarded South African porcelain sculptor whose work encompasses both the human and animal form.

Drawing inspiration from African wildlife as well as the complexities of human relationships, her sculptures explore themes of connection, vulnerability, affection and emotional exchange. Her figures communicate through posture, gesture and subtle etched detail, giving each individually handcrafted porcelain piece a strong sense of character and feeling.

Together, the two artists offer contrasting yet complementary perspectives on creativity. Ronel expresses herself through colour, pattern and visual energy, while Tania communicates through sculptural form, gesture and emotional narrative.

Both create highly individual work that is rooted in craftsmanship and a genuine personal connection to their art. The exhibition is presented by Mulberry Boutique as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting and celebrating creativity in the local community and bringing original South African art to a broad and welcoming audience.
