Marks of Memory

Marks of Memory

Memory is ephemeral, a shifting sliding glimpse of something past, a tidal landmark on our minds and difficult to define with accuracy. Its very nature is fragile and unreliable but what makes it especially fabulous is that memory is so personal, so engaging and belonging uniquely to us, formed and filtered by our personal emotions and impressions. Memories become embedded in their retelling and can become myths , a passed down story that has grown and has been changed with each recycling, a breaking and making not only of the story but of the narrators history as well. This exhibition is a desire by each artist here to share their visual interpretations of what they have experienced physically and emotionally, a once upon a time story, something that is personal and perhaps important, a mark in their memory.
